Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs (680 g) Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut lengthwise into quarters
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons (60 ml) heavy cream
2 tablespoons (30 g) butter
1 tablespoon milk (or more)
2-3 tablespoons garlic powder
Salt and pepper

Directions

  1. Boil potatoes in salted water. Simmer until tender (check with a fork or toothpick). This usually takes 15 -20 minutes.
  2. Put butter and heavy cream in a bowl and microwave until the butter is melted.
  3. Drain the potatoes and put them into a large bowl. Pour the butter/cream on top.
  4. Mash them. A potato masher works best, otherwise a wooden spoon is good too.
  5. Add the milk and add a ton of garlic powder (I’ve never measured this — a few tablespoons should be enough). Mash until just smooth. NOTE: don’t overdo it or the potatoes will end up gluey.
  6. Add salt and pepper (to taste)
